Bel's Baubles: jewelry, silversmith

Bel is the name given to this middle aged(and still attractive) silversmith. Her shop is characterized by the numerous silver bells hanging around the shop, giving the shop a musical chiming any time the door is opened to let in the breeze.

The Jewelry Box: goldsmith

A shop renowned for its elaborately engraved jewelry boxes to display and hold their jewelry (they make almost as much by selling the boxes as they do the rest of their stock)

The Hidden Pearl

A shop ran by a Ysnian lady, Rauva, this shop specializes in pearl jewelry. Rauva constantly has a good supply of pearls, which she gets from her ocean living relatives.

 Treasure Chest

A retired adventurer runs this shop. According to rumor, the money to start the shop came from the massive treasure chest, which has been affixed, to the wall behind the counter.

 

Clothing stores:

 Fantastic Furs: furrier

This shop is a favorite of the Keltoi, where they purchase the furs that go with their traditional garb. It is also where the nobility receive the ermine fur to use in their more expensive clothing

Fay's Fripperies: hats, gloves, fans

Fay runs this shop. A portly lady in her late 40s. Fay is a hopeless gossip, and is one of the most knowledgeable people in the city(At least when it comes to the latest gossip). It only takes mentioning a juicy bit of gossip to get a discount on her stock. In general, people like Fay(although, they really wish she would shut up about some things) Fay is somewhat of an airhead, at least when it comes to gossip.

 Janos the Cobbler: shoes, boots, shoe repair

Janos is a midget, and very touchy about short jokes. Anybody that makes a short joke in his presence, will become aquatinted with his specially made steel-toed boots.

Crossed Needles: ;men's clothier

The Crossed Needles is a high quality clothing shop run by two men, who, are reputed to be lovers, although, nobody is sure(Fay would pay good deal to find out the truth). Both of them are exceptionally good looking, and receive many small gifts from ladies wanting their attentions(occasionally, they even take some lady to a ball or dance). Whether they are just leading on the ladies, or if they are lovers, or if they like each other and the ladies, their clothing is superb.

Maskerade: masks, costumes, wigs

Perhaps the only costume shop in Myknosos, nobles ordering a new costume for the next Masqurade ball, or other more private activities keep this ship perpetually busy for.

Seamstress Tansy

Tansy is a lady of 24, who is almost a perpetual child (in some areas at least) She specializes in clothing in pastel colors, and with flowers on them.

Moira's Creations: court gowns, robes, hats

Moira is a thin, lean spare lady, without a single bit of extra flesh on her body. Despite her unfeminine appearance, she is an expert in court dresses, and constantly manages to create grander and grander creations for her best clients (one of which is Flavia)

The Gentleman's Wardrobe: men's clothing

This shop is the chief competitor of the Crossed Needles. They have a friendly rivalry going on to see who can make the better clothing faster.

Travelchest: traveler's gear

This shop is decorated from equipment and gear collected from around the world. One of the most prized items is a Katana from the Oriental Empire.

 Boothill

This shop concentrates on mass large quantities of low quality, cheap boots. While the workmanship is decidedly shoddy, the price, and the ready availability of these boots make many people buy them.

Sybarite's Silkens

This shop is a companions refuge. The walls are covered with silken hangings, and marble statues model the clothing. There is perpetually some sort of incense burning.

 

Personal items/toiletries

 Heaven Scent: perfume, incense, oils

Supposedly, walking into this shop is like taking a step into the gardens of the gods.. At least, that is what its proprietor wants you to think.

Dante's Delights: bath oils, soaps, incense, towels, brushes, sponges, robes

Dante is a massive man. He has muscles that would put many a smith to shame, yet, he has some of the gentlest hands in the city(as a few of his customers can attest to). His skills in selecting the correct oils incenses and soaps for you, is only matched by his ability to apply them in his back room to some special customers..

Deidra's Den of Delight: perfumes, make up, jewelry

Deidra is a small wisp of a woman. She is very petite and delicate, so much so in fact, that she was not able to keep up her old job in the Disguised Delights house of pleasure. Her shop is directly across the street from Dante's, and they are openly very good friends.

 

Furnishings:

Delan's Dishes: pottery, china, vases

This shop specialized in fine porcelain items imported from the oriental empire

Tarantala Tapestries: tapestries and rugs

Tarantala is one of those people to seem to have no bones in their body. She is amazingly flexible, and delights in surprising her customers with offhand actions that should be impossible to any creature with a single bone in their body. Aside from that, her selection of tapestries is decent, although her rugs are some of the softest you can find.

 Illuminatus: candles, lamps and lamp oil

This is actually the second shop to bear this name, The first one burned down due to a regrettable accident. Since then, none of the lamps out on display have any oil for them, and all of the lamp oil is kept in a stone cellar.

Woven Delights: baskets, tapestries, wicker furniture

This shop mostly deals with what can be done with whicker. With creative use of dyes, they have even created whicker tapestries, which are currently the rage among the nobles. (they also have a back room, where they make whicker for other kinds of delights)

Sabine's Stained Glass: stained glass and glazier

Sabine actually only runs the counter to this shop. Her father and husband, who are experts, make all of the items. They have Sabine running the counter because her exceptional good looks draw in potential customers, whom she entices into making a purchase. However, for all the flirting in the front, she has let to give any of the lured in customers what they truly want(According to Fay, this is not true, she is sure that she saw Sabine going off into an inn with a heavily muscled man. She has no proof to go with her claim, and the rumors that she has started have greatly angered Sabine and her husband)

 Carving Knife: furniture, carvings

You will not find more than a few square inches of unadorned wood in this shop. They specialize in elaborate carvings, both on, and off of furniture.

 The Wooden Claw:Furniture

Elaborate feet characterize all of the furniture in this shop,, claws, paws, ball and claw, all kinds of feet are displayed on their furniture. And every foot is unique.

Tobias the Locksmith

This creative locksmith is of undeterminate gender. What is known is that zie makes some of the best locks on the island. Thankfully(as far as thieves are concerned) zir locks are also among the most expensive.

Mario's Masonry

Mario is a strong man. However, for all his muscles, he is not terribly bright. However, his crew is the fasted group of masons on the island.

Starshine: astrologist

Get yer future told with a weee little bit 'oh drink to help it go down is the motto of this shop. In truth, it is part of the success. Tipsy people find it easier to believe the horoscopes that are cast for them, and tend to tip nicely.

Flora's Delights: florist

Message in a Bottle: messenger services, scribes

This shop uses a special type of wax to seal messages into bottles. Because they make the wax themselves, and nobody else has been able to duplicate it (for some reason the wax is destroyed if you try to remelt it), people can know that their messages have hot been tampered with unless the seal has been broken.

Sedan Service

This small business offers cheap, and reliable Sedan services to all parts of the city.

 Quick Rick's Rides

This business located on the outskirts of the city had two sources of income. Due to the scarcity of horses, they offer horse rides to those that are interested. Also, they have people stationed throughout the city, that you can hire to deliver a speedy message. (this has created a whole subclass of people who do nothing but clean up after the horses that the messengers ride)

 The Crystal Ball

This is another fortune telling shop. Its propritess uses a crystal ball to see into the future. There are a great number of people who doubt her, but at least people cannot claim that the store's success is based on its free drinks.

 

Inns and Taverns:

Catch o' the Day: restaurant

This restaurant on the sea front, has agents on most of the fishing ships, that insure that they always get the freshest, and largest fish.

Salty Dog Tavern

The light is dim, and sawdust covers the floor. Pervading the tavern are the smells of seawater, beer, and unwashed bodies. For all its atmosphere, it is a pleasant place, where many sailors go to get a drink(and maybe have a friendly brawl) when they make landfall.

 Whitecap Inn

This in is built around the hulk of a galleon that was beached well up on shore the last time there was a tidal wave. It is plush, and expensive.(the rooms in it have been expanded alot)

 Tempest in a Teacup: tea room plus sells tea and tea paraphernalia

This little teashop holds perhaps one of the only true fortunetellers in the city. Unfortunately, her services are not for sell. However, the wary do keep an eye on the shop, because she always closed down locks it up long before any major storms come in. So far, people have not noticed any of these "predictions" to be wrong.

The Black Swan Tavern

Elegant, suave, expensive. A playground for those nobles who want to get a taste of the seamier side of life without being in danger (this tavern actually has a dedicated staff of people who look dangerous, seedy, and common. They do not let anybody into this tavern, so they maintain this staff of dangerous types to give it the feel of a real tavern)

 Glorious Grape

The man who runs this wineshop is named Carniard. He is perpetually dressed in a toga, and has a cup of wine in his hand. For all his drinking, he has never actually been seen drunk. He does offer an excellent and wide selection of wines.

Crow's Nest Inn

This inn is the inn of the common seaman who wants to get away from the sea. Contained in its rooms is nothing at all remotely related to the oceans, or to ships. It never serves fish.

Blood of the Vine Tavern

This tavern specializes in red wines. If it isn't red, it isn't good. They offer a small variety of ales and ciders, but their selection of red wines is truly astounding.

The Feathered Nest: Inn

supposedly called that because it has only featherbeds, actually was named after the courtesan that started it as a house of pleasure, she was shrewd money wise, but not creatively. (She called herself Feather)

 

Food items

Vineland: wine and paraphernalia

This shop is adjacent to the Glorious Grape, and is in fact run by the same man. The two business are kept separate because Carniard does not think that people would enjoy shopping while others are busy drinking their troubles away

Fruits of Sea: fish shop

Fish. Every kind of fish imaginable can be found at this dockside stall. All of them guaranteed fresh. Even more amazing than the variety of fish available, are the reasonable prices

 Cheesewheel: cheeses, bread, basket

According to Harnal, the foreigner who runs this shop, cheese is the food of the gods. While many people disagree with his actual worshiping of cheese(according to Fay, he has gone so far as to construct a shrine to cheese in the back room which he performs foul rites over) most people do enjoy cheese with their meals, so he does manage to stay in business.

Spice of Life: spices, herbs, tea, coffee

According to the sign on the door, they have spices strong enough to bring the dead back to life. This is an understatement. Barely.

Sweet Tooth: confectioner

In a city full of nobles and wealthy, sweets are in great demand. This shop is kept constantly busy creating delight after sugary delight.

Staff of Life: bakery

Renowned for their staff bread(loves of bread that is easily 5 feet long) this shop is a delightful place to be near in the early morning hours when they begin baking.

Butcher's Block: butcher

The proprietor of this shop is regrettably rude, but is a talented butcher(according to Fay, you had best watch what you get from him, there have been any number of disappearances, and somebody once told her that they found a ladies ring in meat that they bought from this shop)

Julio's Market: drygoods, provisions

Julio is a very pale man, and is rarely seen outside of his shop. His family runs a massive farm on the northern end of the island, and he sells their crops to provision ships.

 

Entertainment

 Seductive Siren: expensive bathhouse/spa

This establishment sits on top of natural hot springs. There is one spot where a fine mist sprays up through cracks in the floor, creating a soft, ghostly sound, that some people likened to the song of a Siren beckoning them into that steam room... Shortly after that observation, the current name was acquired.

Bubbles' Bathhouse: public baths and laundry

People who go to this bathhouse are undoubtedly clean when they come out. Every single bath in this bathhouse is a gigantic bubble bath. It is *VERY* popular with the youth of the city.

 Salacious Satyr Festhall

This is a feasthall that caters to women... it is staffed by attractive beefcakes, who are not opposed to earning a special "tip" on the side.

Naughty Nymph Festhall

This feasthall is the companion one to the Salacious Satyr. Attractive ladies, who are likewise not opposed to earning those special tips, staff it.

Disguised Delights: brothel/escorts

Disguised Delights is a unique brothel. All of the girls and guys in it where masks over their faces, and every customer that goes in is provided a mask. That way, anonymity is protected(unless of course people have those pesky birthmarks)

 

Weaponsmiths

The Huntsman: bows, arrows, spears, nets

This is shop is one that is mostly of use to the nobles (except for the nets which it provides to fisherman, and the bows and arrows which they provide to the guard and navy) There is very little true hunting ground on the island, so, only the nobles use it.

Sword of The Ancients: weapons

A shop that has weapons. More weapons than some small armies do. There are even a few weapons that the owners offer to give to anybody that show the slightest bit of proficiency in them
